If you know of additional 2014 sporting events, ideally lasting ~2 weeks (or more) and not overlapping any events below, please let me know! Also, if you see anything that looks incorrect below (for dates, etc.), I originally pulled the list and dates mostly from Wikipedia, so it's possible there are errors, and I will fix them as I become aware of them.
I'll be updating this page all year, as I select/finish projects for events.
Edited 3/18: I've added a few events, and deleted a few (adding longer events at times that didn't have events previously, and deleting a few shorter/overlapping ones). Also, if you're participating with me, please tag your projects with 2014knittingchallenge!
Edited 6/6: I've decided to do Camp Loopy this year with The Loopy Ewe (I've tried in the past, but have never done all 3 projects, so this will be a first!), so I've added that to the events.
Edited 6/13: I'm moving the completed events down to the bottom of the page, so it's easier to see what's currently in progress.

Eliza’s potential project(s):
1. If there is an official Ravelry group/event, their rules take precedence if you choose to join them (if they don’t specify, follow the rules below).
2. Cast on no sooner than the official beginning of the event (based on the local time zone where the event takes place).
3. Finish up no later than the end of the event. Post at least one photo (even if it’s a crappy selfie) to Ravelry. Seams (if required) should be sewn.
4. “Training” is allowed/encouraged ahead of time. Includes, but not necessarily limited to: swatching, winding yarn, prepping pattern (marking numbers for chosen size, etc.). Just no actual casting on of the project itself until the beginning of the event.
5. For WIPs to count, it should be decided ahead of time that the event will be a “WIP finishing” one. If a project is not finished during its original event, it may be entered in a future event as a WIP.
5. For WIPs to count, it should be decided ahead of time that the event will be a “WIP finishing” one. If a project is not finished during its original event, it may be entered in a future event as a WIP.
1. Use stashed yarn and queued projects, if at all possible (bonus points for using patterns already owned).
2. Watching the sporting events on TV/online while knitting is encouraged, when possible.
3. The following finishing steps are encouraged but optional, when required (can be done after the deadline, if necessary): weaving in ends, blocking, sewing on buttons, sewing in tags, etc.
"Prizes":
1. 10+ finished projects by the end of the year!
2. A sense of accomplishment at being so productive with your knitting.
3. If there is an official Ravelry group/event, potentially other prizes as well, if you follow their rules/instructions.
